mystic seaport workshop

buildings {especially skyscrapers at night} are receptacles of light.

they are also receptacles of life, and therefore, eventually, of decay.

great beauty often lies in desolation. sometimes the beauty of desolation is not readily accessible in physical space. sometimes it is not readily accessible to the eye that looks upon it.

framing anything, however, will make the eye reconsider.

starkness of imagery, tension in the arrangement of elements and lines, the light of slightly overexposed windows, juxtaposition and irony, and for whatever reason, the purity of clouds and water are amongst the subjects i seek.

my photographs are lonely. i live them that way.

the majority of these photographs were taken with a canon powershot a95 and edited in adobe photoshop. the progression from object to digital representation to modified digital representation of the ideal abstraction in my head involved many mouse clicks, keyboard pokes, drags, drops, and other acts of senseless violence. i have never been trained in photography.
